Lemont man wins $50K lottery prize

A Lemont man who won $50,000 in the Illinois Lottery plans to use the money to help his three children with college expenses.

Steve Leibforth’s Quick Pick ticket matched four numbers, plus the Powerball number, in the Sat., Jan. 9 Powerball drawing, according to the Illinois Lottery. The winning numbers were — 16, 19, 32, 34, 57, and the Powerball number was 13.

“I was one tiny number away from winning the $900,000,000 jackpot that night! But winning any prize is awesome, I’m happy,” Leibforth said in a release from the Illinois Lottery.

Leibforth, who has lived in southwest suburban Lemont for 16 years, plans to use the winnings to help his three children with college expenses.

He bought the winning ticket at Speedway, 15551 W. 143rd St. in Homer Glen, according to the release. The convenience store received a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
