A woman was fatally hit by a car Tuesday morning in north suburban Morton Grove.
Izah M. Malik, 26, was walking on Golf Road near Waukegan Road in Morton Grove about 6:25 a.m. when she was struck by a car, according to the Cook County sheriff’s and medical examiner’s offices.
Malik, who lived in the 7100 block of Niles Road in Morton Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:44 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy Wednesday found she died of multiple blunt force injuries and her death was ruled an accident.
The driver went to the Skokie Courthouse to report that she may have hit something on Golf Road, sheriff’s spokeswoman Sophia Ansari said. She stopped at the scene, but because of poor lighting couldn’t see anything on the roadway. She headed to the courthouse and notified the officers there that she may have hit something.
The investigation found that her vehicle had struck the victim, Ansari said. No charges have been filed.
