A man was critically injured in a crash early Monday in northwest suburban Palatine.

The single-vehicle crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Dundee Road near Northwest Highway, according to a statement from the Palatine Fire Department.

One person was trapped inside the vehicle, which sustained major damage, according to the fire department.

The driver was extricated from the wreckage and taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in critical condition, according to the fire department.

Palatine police are investigating.
