Broncos’ defense voted best since 1985 Bears

The latest is usually the greatest. That’s just how things work these days.

After Denver’s impressive 24-10 victory over Carolina, some were quick to anoint the Broncos’ defense as the greatest, even better than the 2013 Seahawks (remember them?).

Linebacker Brandon Marshall called his Broncos the No. 1 defense of all-time.

Former Bears great Steve McMichael disagrees.

“They gave up a ton of more yards than we did (in the Super Bowl),” McMichael told the Sun-Times. “I don’t know what kind of statistician this kid is, what’s his name, Brandon Marshall?

“He needs to read up on the history of the NFL before he talks on a mic next time, that’s all.”

Well, the folks at NFL Network decided to put it to a Twitter vote. I guess they conceded the ’85 Bears were the best, or best in the last 30 years.

The Broncos are narrowly ahead of the Seahawks.

Thing is, they might have it all wrong, according to some stats.

The debate rages on until the next great defense comes along … in 12 months or so.
