GLENDALE, Ariz. — Here’s why you always stay alert for foul balls.

White Sox vice president Ken Williams was sitting in a golf cart next to Jim Thome watching a White Sox scrimmage at their spring training facility Tuesday morning when top prospect Tim Anderson, swinging late on a pitch from left-hander Carlos Rodon, lined a hot liner heading straight for them.

The ball just missed a photographer standing by the fence behind first base and hit the cart, scattering Williams (wearing a black pullover and black shorts). Assistant director of player development Del Matthews (wearing white pullover in video) also jumped out of his cart parked next to Williams.

“Way to get the bat out,” Williams chirped.

Anderson later made a throwing error on a ground ball to his right, throwing wide left of first baseman Adam LaRoche.
