Mike March nominated his dad, Gary, of the Mount Greenwood neighborhood, for catching a 38-inch, 15-pound, 10-ounce muskie on Feb. 27 with a jig and minnow below the Lake Shelbyville spillway.

“His goal this fishing season was to catch his first quality muskie,’’ Mike March emailed. “He definitely didn’t think he was going to reach that goal as early as February. New goal has already been set: Break the 40-inch mark.’’

Good to meet goals. Even better to set new ones.

FOTW, the celebration of big fish and good stories, runs Wednesdays on the Sun-Times outdoors page.
