Cubs’ big bats take on Tyson Ross and Padres Tuesday in Arizona

MESA, Ariz. — The Cubs sent a formidable top of the order to Peoria, Ariz., Tuesday to face the San Diego Padres for the second day in a row.

And don’t sleep on No. 9. Shortstop Munenori Kawasaki. He’s been playing well, and with Tommy La Stella continuing to ache on the sideline with a weeklong calf tweak, Kawasaki is gaining favor among the staff.
