A person was shot Sunday morning inside a house in northwest suburban Elgin.

Officers responded to the shooting in the 700 block of Wing Street at 6:49 a.m., according to Elgin police.

A male, whose age wasn’t immediately available, was involved in an altercation inside a home when he was shot, police said.

He was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin with a life-threatening gunshot wound.

The Elgin police Major Investigations Division and Gang Crimes Unit are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (847) 289-2600. Anonymous tips can be provided at (847) 695-4195 or by texting 847411 and including “ELGINPD” in the beginning of the text.
