A man was shot and critically wounded Thursday afternoon in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The 31-year-old was standing outside in the 5500 block of South Hoyne about 4:50 p.m. when someone walked up and fired shots, according to Chicago Police. The shooter then jumped into a vehicle, which sped away.

The man suffered gunshot wounds to the face and groin, and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
