One person died and another person was injured after a crash Monday evening on I-88 near west suburban Naperville, according to Illinois State police.

A large box truck and a semi were traveling westbound about 5:45 p.m. on I-88 near Naperville Road when traffic began to slow and came to a stop, police said. The truck failed to slow down and rear ended the semi.

The driver of the truck, 25-year-old Daniel Garcia, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Garcia lived in southwest suburban Yorkville.

The 60-year-old man driving the semi was taken to Edwards Hospital in Naperville with a minor injury, police said.

The far two right lanes were temporarily closed, but all lanes were open as of 7:55 p.m.
