A 74-year-old man died Sunday evening when his motorcycle crashed a into semi truck on Interstate 55 in south suburban Channahon Township.

Melvin H. Weidner, of New Lenox, was driving the Harley Davidson motorcycle on the Arsenal Road ramp to northbound I-55 at 6:37 p.m. when the bike struck the back of a semi, according to Illinois State Police and the Will County coroner’s office.

Weidner was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:35 p.m., the coroner’s office said.

No other injuries were reported, police said. No charges or citations were filed.
