The Bears quietly signed eight undrafted free agents Friday: Harvard tight end Ben Braunecker, Duquesne center Dan Buchholz, Mississippi State defensive back Taveze Calhoun, Villanova linebacker Don Cherry, Georgia Southern wideout Derek Keaton, Buffalo tackle John Kling, UTEP outside linebacker Roy Robertson-Harris and Wisconsin-Oshkosh tight end Joe Sommers.

Braunecker and Sommers fill an immediate need for the Bears, who did not draft a tight end, traded Martellus Bennett and were unable to pry Josh Hill from the Saints.

Robertson-Harris visited Halas Hall as one of the team’s 30 official interviews.

The team had not announced any additions after the draft, and on Friday merely posted the moves to the league’s transaction page. Rookie minicamp will start Friday.
