Woman dies after Maywood shooting

A Batavia woman who was shot in west suburban Maywood last year died Tuesday morning.

Blanca Winters was pronounced dead at 11:58 a.m. Tuesday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

She was shot in the 1700 block of St. Charles Road in Maywood in August 2015, according to Maywood police. Police could not immediately provide further details about the incident.

An autopsy Friday found that Winters, who lived in the 1200 block of East Wilson Street in Batavia, died from complications of multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said.
