Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery reported to Halas Hall and will attend the the Bears’ mandatory minicamp this week, the team said.
Jeffery had been training in Florida rather than participating in the Bears’ organized team activities, which are voluntary. He agreed to a franchise tender worth $14.59 million, but Jeffery and the Bears have until July 15 to negotiate a long-term extension.
His attendance isn’t a surprise; Jeffery would have been fined had he not attended the minicamp, which begins Tuesday and runs through Thursday at Halas Hall.
In nine games last season, he had 54 catches for 807 yards and four scores. He missed all four preseason games and about half the regular season with a series of soft tissue injuries.
