Linebacker Danny Trevathan’s championship ring from the Broncos’ Super Bowl victory was delivered to Halas Hall on Wednesday, and Bears general manager Ryan Pace made sure to hand it to him on the field.

“I was like, ‘Oh man, here it is now. Let me go ahead and open this box and show these guys what it’s all about,’ ” Trevathan said. “I was really excited to show them, but I’m excited to get back to work and chase it again.”

Trevathan proudly wore the ring, which includes 212 diamonds, on his left index finger. He said there’s an important message behind showing it off to his teammates.

“I want them to know this is what it’s all about,” Trevathan said. “I know what it takes. You have to put in them days. You have to work. You have to be smart. You have to take care of each other and have that brotherhood on and off the field.”

What did his new teammates say about it?

“They’re ready to get after it, man,” Trevathan said. “It’s one thing to say it, but it’s one thing to do it. I believe these guys are stacking some of the best days I’ve seen. We’re right where we need to be, but we can always get better.”

An open Ego

Defensive lineman Ego Ferguson provided insight into the knee injury that forced him onto IR last season and the four-game suspension he received for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Ferguson, a second-round pick in 2014, said he tore the patellar tendon in his right knee and underwent surgery. He initially tried to play through the injury, but was placed on IR in October.

As for his suspension, Ferguson said he took the wrong supplements.

“[It’s] understanding what you can and can’t do, and taking more responsibility in myself,” Ferguson said. “I’m researching stuff better.”
