Two people were injured and 23 more were displaced early Friday in a South Side Auburn Gresham fire.

Crews responded to a two-story building fire at 2:10 a.m. in the 7900 block of South Justine, according to Fire Media Affairs. The fire was struck out before 3 a.m.

One officer was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for smoke inhalation, according to Chicago Police and fire officials. Another person was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in fair to serious condition.

Twelve children and 11 adults were displaced because of the fire, officials said.
