An Illinois freshman linebacker has been suspended indefinitely, Illini head coach Bill Cubit announced Wednesday night, per WAND-17.

The suspension comes in response to a pending investigation of an alleged crime committed in Georgia during the team’s bye weekend of October 16-18, according the University of Illinois’ press release.

The name of the town was not identified neither was the nature of the crime allegedly committed.

The university declined further comment.

Jones was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2015 out of Atlanta. He has played in eight games this season, mostly on special teams for the Illini.
