Hours after the Jets lost Geno Smith for the next six weeks following a training camp fight, they have reached out to former Bears quarterback Rex Grossman.
Smith was punched by linebacker Ikemefuna Enemkpali, who has since been released. The quarterback’s jaw was broken, and now the Jets are left with rookie Bryce Petty and journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick.
According to Pro Football Talk, the Jets are reportedly now interested in finding a new veteran quarterback, with Grossman on the short list.

Grossman spent six seasons in Chicago after the Bears drafted him in 2003. He was the primary quarterback for the Bears through four of those seasons at the start of the year, including the 2006 team that reached the Super Bowl.
Since leaving Chicago, Grossman has played for both Houston and Washington. Grossman was out of the league last season.
