Cubs manager Joe Maddon didn’t want to waste anymore relief pitching after the Cubs were losing by eight runs against the Milwaukee Brewers in the eighth inning.
Travis Wood started the game and gave up six runs on six hits in four innings pitched. Maddon used four pitchers before sticking catcher David Ross on the mound.

Sandy-bearded catcher-types like David Ross make the best position player pitchers IMO. #Cubs pic.twitter.com/tiQpncENXb

Ross only threw 11 pitches, nine strikes, and didn’t allow a hit.
