Police are searching for a man who tried to lure a girl to his car earlier this month in the North Center neighborhood on the North Side.

The girl was walking home from Bell Elementary School about 7:45 p.m. June 8 and was standing on the corner of Grace Street and Western Avenue when a silver car came out of a 7-Eleven nearby and approached, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The driver of the vehicle then called out, “Hey, come here.” The girl ran back to the school and notified staff, police said. The vehicle was last seen circling Bell School before driving away.

The driver is described as a white man, thought to be about 20 years old, with a “pudgy” build, police said.

Anyone with information on the attempted child luring is asked to contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.
