Man shot to death in Austin

A man who was fatally shot Saturday night in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side has been identified.

About 8:45 p.m., 19-year-old Loyd Daniel was driving in the 4900 block of West Augusta when shots rang out and he suffered three gunshot wounds to the shoulder and side, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, authorities said. He lived in the 1200 block of South Independence.

Area North detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
