Three people were hurt in a shooting Nov. 20, 2021, in Chatham.

A suicidal man was arrested after he barricaded himself in a home in northwest suburban Des Plaines Thursday morning, police said.

At 11:23 a.m., police were called to the 1000 block of Rose Avenue for a “suicidal barricade subject,” according to a statement from Des Plaines police.

A man, whose age was not disclosed, “was in possession of several firearms” and refused to come out, police said. He recently had his FOID card revoked by Illinois State Police because of “a similar incident” in Des Plaines in September 2015, police said.

The standoff lasted several hours, with the man surrendering after a SWAT team gassed the residence about 6 p.m., police said.

The man was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment and charges were pending against him Thursday, police said.
