Part of Western Avenue will be fully closed on the South Side Saturday and Sunday for work on the Western Avenue Bridge over the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal.
The bridge will close between 31st and 35th Streets from midnight Saturday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday for maintenance of the bridge structure, according to a statement from the Chicago Department of Transportation.
A posted detour will reroute commuters along Cermak to Ashland to Archer, according to CDOT. Western Boulevard will be fully open as an alternative route.
