A man whose body was found last week in the Calumet River on the Far South Side has been identified as a 54-year-old East Side resident.
The Chicago Police Marine Unit recovered the man’s body from the river about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, near the 3400 block of East 95th Street, according to Chicago Police.
He was identified as Jefferson B. Covey Jr., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived about five blocks away from where his body was found.
An autopsy did not rule on cause and manner of death, with results awaiting further investigation.
Area South detectives are conducting a death investigation.
