A 69-year-old Michigan woman died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in northwest suburban Des Plaines.

About 8:30 p.m., Sneh Badhwar was walking north across the street in the 1400 block of East Touhy Avenue when she was hit by a vehicle in the west curb lane, according to Des Plaines police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Badhwar was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m., authorities said. She lived in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Police said she had crossed in a poorly-lit area of the road and without a crosswalk. The driver did not appear to be intoxicated or impaired.
