A man shot himself in the groin Friday in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the South Side.

The 19-year-old suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his groin about 9:20 p.m. in the 4500 block of South St. Louis, Chicago Police said.

He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment, police said. His condition had stabilized.
