A 34-year-old man died after his vehicle rear-ended a semi truck Wednesday morning in the South Side Park Manor neighborhood.

About 8:30 a.m., Jesse L. Johnson appeared to suffer some type of medical emergency and his vehicle slammed into the back of a semi in the 7000 block of South South Chicago, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Johnson, a Chatham resident, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:58 a.m., authorities said. An autopsy found he died of multiple injuries in a motor vehicle collision, and his death was ruled an accident.

No other injuries were reported, police said.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
