A 17-year-old boy was shot Monday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The teenage boy was walking in the 5300 block of West Madison when a person wearing a mask walked up and fired several shots, striking him in the back, according to Chicago Police.

The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
