A 26-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday evening in the South Shore neighborhood.

Just after 6:30 p.m., a male walked up to Fredrick Stewart in the 2800 block of East 76th Street and fired shots, striking him in the left eye and lower back before running away, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Stewart was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:13 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. His home address was unknown Sunday morning.
