A 26-year-old man shot himself in the leg Monday evening in the Dunning neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The man accidentally fired a shot at 5:54 p.m. in an alley in the 3600 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to Chicago Police. He drove himself to Presence Resurrection Medical Center.

The victim had initially told police that a black SUV pulled up in the alley with four male occupants, and one of them opened fire, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
