A man was found shot to death Tuesday night in the Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side.

Deandre Smith, 28, was found lying unresponsive at 6:37 p.m. in a gangway in the 5000 block of South Drexel, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Police initially said he was found inside a building.

Smith, who lived in the University Village neighborhood, had suffered gunshot wounds to his head and right side and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:57 p.m., authorities said.

A police source said the victim was a documented gang member and Area Central detectives are investigating the possibility that the shooting was gang-related.
