A 38-year-old man has been charged with shooting a driver seven times after he ran into a car early Tuesday in southwest suburban Tinley Park.
Andres Rodriguez remains jailed on a $500,000 bond on one count of attempted murder, authorities said.
Rodriguez was walking near 69th Avenue and 173rd Place about 1:30 a.m. when he ran into a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old man, according to a statement from Tinley Park police.
The driver got out of his vehicle to check on Rodriguez, and a “scuffle” ensued, police said. Rodriguez pulled out a handgun and shot the man seven times, police said.
The driver was able to talk to investigators, but remained hospitalized Thursday. Rodriguez, a Tinley Park resident, was arrested at the scene.
Judge Donald R. Havis ordered him held on a $500,000 bond at a Thursday hearing, according to Cook County Circuit Court records. Rodriguez is due in court again on Aug. 16.
