A 59-year-old man man was fatally struck by a Metra Union Pacific North Line train Thursday night in northwest suburban Des Plaines.
Outbound Train 647, which was scheduled to arrive in Harvard at 7:19 p.m., struck a pedestrian at the Des Plaines station just after 6 p.m., according to Metra and Des Plaines police.

An autopsy Friday ruled his death a suicide.
