A man was killed in a crash Wednesday afternoon in northwest Indiana, police said.

Officers were called about 4:20 p.m. to a crash near Melton Road and Clay Street in Gary, according to Gary police.

The man, whose age was unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Lake County coroner’s office said.

Five more people, including children, were also injured in the crash, but their conditions were unknown.

Three vehicles — including a GMC Envoy, a Chrysler Aspen and a semi pulling a car carrier — were involved, police said.

The crash was still under investigation by the Lake County sheriff’s office, police said
