A 16-year-old boy was shot Sunday afternoon in the South Deering neighborhood on the Far South Side.

At 12:18 p.m., he was standing on a porch in the 9900 block of South Paxton when someone walked up and shot him in the upper left thigh, according to Chicago Police.

The boy was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized, police said.
