A 22-year-old man was fatally shot early Tuesday in south suburban Dolton.

Derrick Hill, 22, suffered multiple gunshot wounds in Dolton, according to the Lake County (Ind.) coroner’s office.

The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. in the 14700 block of Shepard Drive, according to Dolton Police Chief Robert Collins Jr.

Hill appears to have been alone when at least one shooter, possibly two, approached and shot him, according to Collins.

Hill, who lived on the same block as the shooting, was taken to Franciscan Health Center in Hammond, where he was pronounced dead at 1:19 a.m., according to the coroner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide.

No motive for the shooting has been determined, Collins said.
