Yahoo Travel has released its list of the best Thanksgiving Day pies in the country (when it comes to variety, pumpkin pie remains the nation’s fave for the holiday feast, with 50 million of them slated for consumption this weeks alone).
So who’s got the best holiday pie in Illinois? Yahoo Travel selected the applie pie at First Slice Pie Cafe (three Chicago locations). Of course, they make a whole lotta other pies, too, so if apple’s not to your liking, check out their website or Facebook page for more temptations. There’s a whole lot more to First Slice Cafe, by the way. Their mission statement: “… to fight hunger in Chicago by providing quality meals with local, organic ingredients to the homeless.” And that they do.
If your holiday travels find you heading northward to Wisconsin, the list cites the Norske Nook Restaurant and Bakery for its apple, blueberry, pumpkin cream cheese, and pecan pies.
Indiana is on the list, represented by My Sugar Pie Dessert Restaurant in Zionsville, Ind., (about a half-hour outside of Indianapolis). The pie to try? Sugar Cream. What else?
