Man shot dead in Homan Square

A man was found shot to death Sunday morning in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side, police said.

Erik Sutphin, 35, was found dead at 11:16 a.m. inside a 2006 Mercury in the 3600 block of West Lexington, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He had suffered a single gunshot wound to his chest.

Sutphin, who lived in Northlake, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:27 a.m., authorities said.

Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
