A Chicago Police sergeant was treated for smoke inhalation and one person was in serious condition after an apartment fire Monday night in the Lake View neighborhood on the North Side.

Officers responded to a fire about 10:15 p.m. in the 3800 block of North Fremont, according to Chicago Police.

The 19th District CPD sergeant was taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, according to Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. His condition was stabilized.

Fire officials took the officer and one other person, who was in serious condition, to Illinois Masonic Hospital, according to the fire department.

No displacements occurred as a result of the fire, and an investigation was ongoing Tuesday morning.
