Two girls shot in Hermosa

Two girls were shot Sunday night in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The girls, ages 6 and 14, were riding in a vehicle with a woman about 9 p.m. in the 4700 block of West North when another vehicle pulled up and the people inside exchanged words or gang signs with the driver before firing shots, according to Chicago Police.

The younger girl suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle, while the older girl was shot in the leg, police said. They were taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

Area North detectives were investigating the shooting.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
