Two girlswere shot Sunday night in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

Thegirls, ages 6 and 14, were riding in a vehicle with a womanabout 9 p.m. in the 4700 block of West North when another vehicle pulled up and the people inside exchanged words or gang signs with the driver before firing shots, according to Chicago Police.

The younger girl suffered a gunshot wound tothe ankle, while the older girlwas shot in the leg, police said. They were taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

Area Northdetectives were investigating the shooting.
