A 25-year-old man was shot to death Thursday afternoon in the Far South Side Roseland neighborhood.

Lorreese Smith was walking about 2:30 p.m. in the 11200 block of South King Drive when four people approached him and opened fire, striking him in the chest and back, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Smith was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 3:35 p.m., authorities said. He lived in Roseland, less than a mile from where he was fatally shot.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
