More than 600 flights have been canceled at Chicago’s airports as another winter storm continues into the area that could bring an additional inch of snow Monday night.
Light to moderate snow is expected to continue throughout the evening, causing hazardous travel conditions and a slow commute, according to the National Weather Service.
A winter weather advisory went into effect at 2:37 p.m. and will continue until midnight for much of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana, according to the weather service.
As of 10:15 p.m., 557 flights had been canceled at O’Hare International Airport, while 41 flights had been grounded at Midway International Airport, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation. It’s likely the cancellations are related to the weather conditions. About 10:15 p.m., the department reported light snow and fog at both airports.
The average delays for flights at both airports were less than 15 minutes, according to the department.
At 6 p.m., O’Hare reported a total snowfall of .9 inches, and Midway reported 1.4 inches.

Drivers should use caution while traveling and be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities during the evening commute and overnight. the weather service said.
The area could also see wind chill values as low as minus 3 degrees Monday night, according to the weather service.The heaviest snowfall has moved south of I-80, where snowfall is expected to be one inch per hour.
Kankakee County is facing a total of up to six inches in some areas, according to the weather service.

More snow is likely to arrive Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, according to the weather service. The snow could pick up again Thursday night, lasting into Friday night.
A little more than an inch of snow fell over the Chicago area throughout Sunday, according to the weather service, potentially relieving Art Van Furniture from a costly Super Bowl sales promotion. The company promised to refund furniture purchases of $999 or higher made between Jan. 5 and 8, but only if it snowed at least three inches at O’Hare International Airport on Super Bowl Sunday.
