GLENDALE, Ariz. — Reynaldo Lopez pitched three scoreless innings in his second start, Tyler Saladino continued making hard contact with his first home run and Avisail Garcia doubled twice and drove in two runs as the White Sox defeated the Brewers 6-4 on Tuesday at Camelback Ranch.
Good challenge for Lopez
Facing a strong Brewers lineup, right-hander Reynaldo Lopez allowed one hit, struck out three and walked three in three scoreless innings. Lopez, who will open the season in the middle of the starting rotation, has given up one run in five spring innings.

‘‘All my pitches were good, especially my breaking pitch that got swings-and-misses,’’ Lopez said. ‘‘It was a good challenge for me. I felt motivated facing the best of the other team.’’

Infielder Tyler Saladino, fighting for a spot as a utility player, continued his run of hard contact with a home run and is hitting .421 this spring. Outfielder Avisail Garcia went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, and area native Rob Scahill pitched a scoreless inning for his fourth consecutive solid outing. Scahill is among a handful of veterans battling for a spot in the bullpen.
Prospect watch
Outfielder Eloy Jimenez (knee tendinitis) should play in the coming days, but general manager Rick Hahn said it might be in minor-league camp. ‘‘He’s progressing nicely,’’ Hahn said. ‘‘It doesn’t pose any long-term concerns. There is no need to rush him out there till he’s 100 percent.’’
The quote
Hahn, on third baseman and 2017 first-round draft pick Jake Burger, who became a clubhouse favorite before his season ended because of a ruptured Achilles: ‘‘I wandered into the training room shortly after he went down, and while he was still on a table with the doctors tending to him, he said: ‘I’m going to kill this rehab. I promise you, I’m going to kill this rehab.’ I mean, he’s a focused, dedicated kid, and that will serve him well.’’
