Man fatally struck by vehicle in Matteson

A 22-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early Saturday in southwest suburban Matteson.

Erik Joseph Flen of Dyer, Indiana, was hit about 12:20 a.m. in the 6200 block of Vollmer Road, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was pronounced dead at 12:54 a.m.

An autopsy found Flen died of injuries from the crash, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled an accident.

Matteson police did not release further details about the crash.
