Two men were wounded Wednesday evening in an Englewood shooting on the South Side.

A red SUV was northbound at 5:28 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Emerald when someone inside started shooting, according to Chicago Police.

Responding officers found a 42-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen, back and left hand, police said. He was taken in critical condition to University of Chicago Medical Center.

Two vehicles in the same block, a 2017 Kia and a 2018 Kia, were also struck by gunfire, police said. A 29-year-old man who was sitting in the parked 2017 Kia was shot in the left forearm, chest and right shoulder and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Two other men in the 2017 Kia – the 43-year-old driver and a 26-year-old passenger – and the 44-year-old driver of the 2018 Kia were not injured, according to police. Both vehicles were damaged.
