Woman, 80, fatally struck by vehicle on Lake Shore Drive

An 80-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car Friday on Lake Shore Drive on the South Side.

Muriel Stacker stumbled into the street about 7:50 p.m. in the 2600 block of South Lake Shore and was hit in the southbound lanes, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she died, police said.

An autopsy found Stacker died of her injuries from being struck and ruled her death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said. She lived in Chatham on the South Side.

The CPD Major Accidents unit is investigating the crash, police said.
