A 39-year-old suburban man is accused of trying to punch a driver during a fit of road rage in west suburban Sugar Grove.

Timothy W. Kressin, of Sandwich, is charged with one misdemeanor count each of battery and reckless conduct, according to the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.

About 6:30 a.m. May 14, Kressin was driving a vehicle on Route 56 in Sugar Grove when he allegedly hit another vehicle while trying to drive around it as they approached a construction zone, the state’s attorney’s office said.

Both vehicles stopped and Kressin allegedly got out of his vehicle and tried to punch the other driver, the state’s attorney’s office said. They struggled on the road until witnesses and Sugar Grove police arrived.
