The White Sox announced a promotion for Chris Getz to assistant general manager/player development Wednesday while naming their player development staff for the 2021 season. This will be Getz’s fifth year in charge of the farm system after four seasons as director of player development.
“After a challenging 2020, we are looking forward to and anticipating a season of development across the entire organization,” Getz said in a statement. “The White Sox are very fortunate to have terrific existing relationships in place with all four of our potential affiliates, and we are excited for the eventual return to some type of normalcy in the player development and affiliate world. I am very pleased with the staff we have in place, as we look forward to getting up and running to full speed as soon as conditions allow.”
Sox minor league managers are Wes Helms at Class AAA Charlotte, Justin Jirschele at AA Birmingham, Ryan Newman at advanced Class A Winston-Salem and Guillermo Quiroz Class A Kannapolis.
