CALGARY, Alberta — Patrick Kane’s streak of All-Star seasons will continue for a sixth consecutive year after the 31-year-old winger was named to the All-Star Game on Jan. 25 in St. Louis.
This will be his ninth All-Star appearance, and the news doesn’t come as a surprise.
Kane leads the Blackhawks in goals (20) and assists (27), and ranks 10th in the league in points (47). That puts him on pace for 96 points, which would be the third-highest total of his 13-year career.
He will be joined on the Central Division roster by the Blues’ Ryan O’Reilly, Alex Pietrangelo and Jordan Binnington; the Jets’ Mark Scheifele and Connor Hellebuyck; the Stars’ Tyler Seguin; the Predators’ Roman Josi; the Wild’s Eric Staal; and the Avalanche’s Nathan MacKinnon.
Goalie Robin Lehner had a strong case to be a second Hawks All-Star representative. His .926 save percentage this season actually tops both Hellebuyck (.923) and Binnington (.921), but he was not selected.
Instead, fans have a chance to vote in Jonathan Toews as a second Hawks representative, as he’s one of seven players in the running to become the Central Division’s 12th and final All-Star.
