A 22-year-old man was killed in a shooting Tuesday on the Near West Side.

Cartez M. Brown, of the Near West Side, was in the 3100 block of West Monroe Street about 4 p.m. when someone approached him on foot and fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Brown was hit in the shoulder and taken to Stroger Hospital where he later died, authorities said.

Area North detectives are investigating. No arrests have been reported.
